On Tuesday,
November 16, 2010, twenty-three Beachwood High School Senior
Marketing Class students were honored at a graduation ceremony held at the ELA
office in the Beachwood Business Development Center, marking their completion
of the eight-week ELA Leadership and Development program. In addition to the 23
students and their teacher, Mr. Greg Perry, there were over 30 community
business and professional leaders in attendance. An understanding of leadership skills, improved goal setting, and
a sense of self-empowerment are just a few of the qualities that students
developed during this program with Effective Leadership Academy (ELA). To demonstrate their enhanced presentation
skills and self-confidence gained through the program, each student made a two-minute
graduation speech reflecting on skills and lessons they learned and can use
now, and in the future. The ELA program
is a ‘journey of self-discovery’ helping students identify their visions and
dreams, and attain them through achievable goal-setting techniques. Students spoke eloquently and very
personally highlighting what they learned about themselves, the goals they set
and achieved and how much the program meant to them.
